stories from the streets

Our project for 2018 focused on challenging the misconceptions regarding the homeless population. We interviewed people who were experiencing homelessness, and collected their stories to display in an exhibition for community members to read and comment on. Most people are disgusted by homeless people and think of them as lazy alcoholics or drug addicts, but that is far from the truth. The majority of homeless people we interviewed were educated but were stricken with misfortune at the wrong time in their lives.

We spread these stories through social media to reach a wider audience. In doing so, we aimed to de-stigmatize the common negative perceptions against the homeless and encourage our society to adopt a change in heart and sympathize with those who are suffering on the streets.
